We are honored to welcome MAYVN to Insumataq Studio for a powerful night of music, movement, and connection.

Oakland-based DJ and live wind instrumentalist MAYVN (she/her) creates globally inspired ecstatic dance journeys infused with live clarinet and saxophone. Her name, Hebrew for “one who listens,” reflects the heart of her artistry — each set is a shared, responsive experience shaped by the energy of the room.

With conservatory training from the Eastman School of Music and advanced studies in ethnomusicology, MAYVN weaves rhythms and melodies from across cultural lineages — including Turkish, Balkan, Cumbia, Assyrian, and Punjabi traditions — into immersive, embodied soundscapes.

She has performed and DJed at renowned festivals including Envision, Lightning in a Bottle, Electric Forest, Paradise Music Festival (Canada), Same Same But Different, and Unison Festival, and toured for four years as clarinetist with Balkan Bump (Red Rocks Amphitheater, Coachella, Shambhala).

Her sets blend melodic downtempo, organic house, global bass, and desert beats — layered with fully improvised live clarinet and saxophone through wireless FX. The result is dynamic, rhythmic, and deeply connective.

✨ Our Evening Flow:
We will begin with a ceremonial cacao opening to soften the heart and set intention together.
Then we’ll move into MAYVN’s live DJ + wind journey — a co-created dance experience.
We will close the evening with grounding sound bowls to integrate, regulate, and settle the nervous system.
